La chanson apparait, en septembre 2017, sur le dernier album du chanteur, un an avant sa mort qui survient en octobre 2018. Initialement sans titre avec le simple nom de l'artiste sur la pochette, l'album a, par la suite, été identifié par le titre du dernier morceau. Lancé sans publicité, l'album fut, immédiatement, un succès en raison de la renommée de J. Brel mais aussi de la polémique créée par sa chanson "Les F...". On retrouve ses thèmes favoris : la mort, l'amour-l'amitié, son idée de la justice sociale ... mais aussi sa misogynie.
Durant cet séance cinq chansons dont la très belle "Cathédrale"ont été enregistrée mais n'ont été publiées qu'en 2003.
À noter, pour cet enregistrement, à l'accordéon Marcel Azzola (1929-2019), au piano Gérard Jouannest (1933-2018) et à la direction d'orchestre François Rauber (1933-2003). G. Jouannest et F. Rauber marqueront le style musical de J. Brel. C'est à A. Piazzola que Brel lancera son fameux "chauffe Marcel" lors de l'enregistrement de "Vesoul".

The song was published, in September 2017, in the last album of the singer, a year before his death which occurs in October 2018. Initially without title with the simple name of the artist on the cover, the album has, later, been identified by the title of the last song.
Launched without advertising, the album was immediately a success because of the reputation of J. Brel but also the controversy created by his song "The F ...". We recgnize his favorite themes: death, love-friendship, his idea of social justice ... but also his misogyny.
During this session five songs including the beautiful "Cathedral" were recorded but were published in 2003.
Note, for this recording, the attendance of the accordionist Marcel Azzola (1929-2019), the pianist Gérard Jouannest (1933-2018) and the conductor François Rauber (1933-2003). G. Jouannest and F. Rauber have marked the musical style of J. Brel. It's toward A. Piazzola that Brel launched his famous "Chauffe Marcel - Get heated, Marcel or jump, Marcel" during the recording of "Vesoul".
