I think this French version of Waltzing Matilda beats all the other versions, sorry Australia, the best version of your most famous folk song is done in French in the true Chanson-style. Yves Montand (1921-91), probably more famous as a great actor (if you havent seen Jean de Florette do it immediately), also had a singing career going on. He recorded Matilda in January 1948, and I dont really knows what more to say about this Parlophone record other than (to quote Mr Burns): Excellent!
