10 Must-Try Meals in Paris for foodies and travellers!

What’s up guys, welcome to another video by Goats On The Road. In this video, I’m going to be sharing with you a bit of French food.

My mouth is watering already. This is our pick of the top 10 must-try foods in Paris France.

We just returned from nearly a week in Paris and as foodies, we were blown away by the food here.

While we were in Paris, we met up with a famous chef for a private dinner, we learned about cheeses and wines from professional wine tasters and we sampled pretty much every French dish we could get our hands on in the short time we were there and I can’t wait to share with you our top 10 must-try dishes in the city.

1. Escargot (1:08)

I actually first got into Escargot when we went to Morocco for the first time back in 2011 and they were serving delicious escargot in a pepper broth on the streets. In Paris, it's even better!

2. Pastry (1:51)

From Profiteroles, Macaroons to Pan Ou Chocolate, Croissants and quiche, you really can’t miss the pastry while you’re visiting Paris.

Walking down the streets of the city, you’ll smell bread and pastry baking on many of the street corners and I almost guarantee that you won’t be able to resist tucking into one of the boulangeries to grab a bite.

If you’re heading to Paris, prepare yourself for some serious pastries and desserts. The French do them better than anyone.

3. Cheese & Wine (2:34)

If you’ve been following our blog for a while then you’ll know that Dariece and I love cheese and wine.

If you’re a cheese and wine-lover like us, I recommend checking out the Food and Wine Tasting Tour in an Old Wine Cave.

This is an Airbnb Experience set in a cave in the basement of one of the oldest buildings in Paris.

4. Beef Bourguignon (3:15)

This hearty beef stew should be on every omnivore's list of foods to try in Paris.

Bœuf à la Bourguignonne is a beef stew braised in red wine, often red Burgundy, and beef stock, generally flavoured with carrots, onions, garlic, and a bouquet garni, and garnished with pearl onions, mushrooms, and bacon.

5. Crepes (3:52)

The crepe is one of those iconic dishes that you really can’t miss while visiting Paris. We actually tried just one on the street and we weren’t too impressed with it, but apparently, Coffee Crepes is a super popular spot to get crepes in the heart of the 1st arrondissement, so next time we go we’ll definitely check those out.

6. Fallafel (4:34)

I know, this is a bit controversial to list falafel on a video about French food, and while this delicious vegetarian wrap may have originated in Egypt over 1000 years ago, a lot of people say that the best falafels on earth are found in Paris.

If you want to get delicious falafel in Paris, just head to Rue des Rosiers in the 3rd and you won’t be disappointed.

7. Duck Confit (5:28)

The duck confit that I had while in Paris was not only one of the best meals I had while in France, it was simply one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had.

If you’re looking for a great Duck Confit, head to Bistro Vict-wares in the 2nd arrondissement a couple of blocks north of the Louvre museum.

8. Market Food (6:02)

The French still rely heavily on fresh, seasonal produce to create their most prized dishes, so it’s no surprise that Paris still has some of the markets in the world.

One of the largest and liveliest in the city is the Bastille Market. Only open on Sundays and Thursdays from 7am to 3pm, this open-air market is the perfect place to head for lunch and some snacks.

9. French Onion Soup (6:38)

This was one of the things that Dariece promised herself that she had to order while she was in France and actually, we were both surprised at just how delicious a real French Onion Soup can be.

There’s a great little restaurant in the 5th Arrondissement near the Pantheon called La Coup De Torchon that does an excellent French Onion Soup.

Trust me, even if you’re not a big soup lover, you should order a French onion soup while you’re in Paris.

10. Steak & French Fries (7:14)

I guess you can tick two things off your list with this single meal because everyone who visits France obviously has to try French fries and pairing them with a delicious French steak is probably the best way to have them.
